Current events are stressful and exhausting, especially if you are an activist. This is a recording of the excellent 1-½ hour session by Nkem Ndefo on Resilience for Sustainable Activism. It teaches you how to listen to your body, and recognize the signs of stress and exhaustion which are only human responses, and not a sign of failure. The lesson is part of Indivisible's Solidarity in Action Speaker Series and it really helped me a lot. Please bookmark it and watch it when you have some time!
She teaches us that::
- Burnout and reactivity are predictable stress responses, not personal shortcomings.
- Our bodies can be tools for discernment, steadiness, and alignment when we learn to listen.
- Solidarity deepens when we can show up from a regulated place being able to hear, to repair, and to stay connected.
- Rest, play, and delight are forms of resistance that make sustained action possible.
