Remembering the Words of John Lewis
The words of my hero still apply today, and I'm sad that John Lewis is still not with us. He left us with his great wisdom when he said at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, "Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America." He also once tweeted: "Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year — it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble." #goodtrouble
We have an out-of-control government with a psychopath as president. Congress and the Supreme Court have abdicated their responsibility to be the checks and balances on the system. People are losing their rights that were so hard to gain. We must unite. We must resist. We must protest. We must march. We must make change happen! ✊
Here's a video compilation of several interviews. It's only 9 minutes and 45 seconds if you need to be inspired or reminded of the struggle.
