	<title><![CDATA[Birthright Citizenship At SCOTUS]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p><span style="white-space:pre-wrap;">At Friday's private conference, the <strong>Supreme Court</strong> discussed the case challenging <strong>birthright citizenship</strong>. All of the lower courts have upheld the <strong>14th Amendment</strong> and rejected the <strong>Trump</strong> administration's re-definition of it. I'm wanting to see <strong>SCOTUS</strong> deny granting certiorari to hear the case, which would mean the lower court decision would stand. We will hopefully have an answer Monday morning when they release their <strong>Order List</strong> at 9:30AM ET.</span><br><br><span style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><strong>Section 1</strong> of the <strong>14th Amendment</strong> says, </span><i><span style="white-space:pre-wrap;">"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."</span></i><span style="white-space:pre-wrap;"> That is pretty clear, but <strong>Trump</strong> is trying to re-interpret the <strong>US Constitution</strong> in order to exclude <strong>immigrants</strong>. They are using the phrase </span><i><span style="white-space:pre-wrap;">"subject to the jurisdiction thereof"</span></i><span style="white-space:pre-wrap;"> to say the baby doesn't have <strong>citizenship</strong> unless both parents are citizens.
