Protests Must End With Action

On March 28th we're going to see the largest nationwide protest in our history, so I hope y'all will be a part of it and participate in No Kings 3. Massive protests show our solidarity, but a protest is of little use unless it ends with people taking action.

To combat authoritarianism, we have to have mass protests, but also we must engage in acts of resistance or "collective noncooperation" that targets the pillars of society that give dictators their power. The pillars on which the government depends are: workers, businesses, civil servants, schools, media, faith groups, and security forces.

We need to take away each of those pillars of power by engaging in noncooperation, such as boycotts, strikes, work slowdowns, defections, etc. by people who have influence on each of those pillars.

Rayhunter IMSI-Catcher Detector

All of the protest groups in every area need to arm themselves with Rayhunter in order to detect the IMSI-catcher (Stingrays) being used in their area by police, ICE, FBI, etc. The use of Stingrays violates the Fourth Amendment because it sweeps up every cellphone in the area instead of just the target. The device is being abused by law enforcement to spy on people (especially protesters).

Rayhunter is open-source and runs on an Orbic mobile hotspot which costs around $20.

Assessment of Iran Nuclear Programs By Janes

Janes does a great analysis of the nuclear programs in Iran and their violations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). During his first term in office, Trump "tore up" the JCPOA agreement on March 8th, 2018 and reimposed the sanctions that had been lifted per the agreement. France, Germany, the UK, China, and Russia tried to maintain the agreement, but because of the "maximum pressure" sanctions by the USA Iran returned to enrichment.

We (and the world) would have been much better off keeping the JCPOA in place and punishing Iran for any violations. Instead, Israel and the USA carried out military strikes against Iran and Trump lied and said their program had been "obliterated." The attack did destroy part of their nuclear program, but it was far from being obliterated. Now, you have to pick which lie you want to believe: is the latest Iran war because of their nuclear program or is it to force regime change? Or is it both? Trump and Netanyahu don't really have a plan for what they're doing beyond carrying out military strikes and they don't have a plan for what comes next.

According to analysis by Janes (which I trust): Iran’s breakout time – the time required to produce weapons-grade uranium enough for one nuclear weapon – is about six to seven days. Iran can produce enough weapons-grade uranium for five to eight weapons in about one to two months. Iran is not yet known to be capable of using weapons-grade uranium to make a nuclear weapon that can be mated with a delivery platform. The process of weaponization is very likely to take a significantly longer period.

They also report that there is no indication that Iran is pushing ahead with the weaponization component of any process towards a nuclear weapons capability.

How To Identify Less-Lethal Weapons

Bellingcat has put together an excellent guide on how to identify the "less-lethal" weapons that we've seen being deployed by DHS-ICE/CBP and police. These weapons are meant to be a less-lethal option, but the untrained federal agents aren't using them properly. For example, you aren't suppose to use them at close range and you aren't supposed to aim at someone's head. Just because they are a less-lethal option, doesn't mean they can't be lethal or cause devastating injuries when deployed improperly. Federal agents are using excessive use of force and causing injuries unnecessarily.

DeFlock - ALPR is Automated License Plate Recognition and a company called Flock Safety has installed these AI-powered cameras everywhere. The police and agencies like ICE have access to them, and it records an unbelievable amount of information about your vehicle when you pass in front of one. It reports a lot more details than just your license plate, and their database is being used to track the movement of people without having to obtain a warrant.

DeFlock is a website where you view an open-source map of the ALPR cameras in your area. We need to end the contracts with Flock Safety and remove all of this surveillance technology from our society if we ever want to maintain our freedoms such as the rights guaranteed under our 4th Amendment.

Trump Wants To Take Greenland By Force

We are living in such crazy and dangerous time as we have an imperialistic fascist president in power. White Supremacist Catfishing

The WhiteDate profiles have been published to an easily browsable website. How many times have I said, "If we outsmart them - we don't have to outfight them!"???

"Martha Root" infiltrated the WhiteDate website, got them all to fall in love with an AI, and then published all of their profiles. Many of them lied about their location, but the EXIF data from their photos gave away their true locations.

Archive of January 6th, 2021 Insurrection

The Trump administration ordered the destruction of all evidence and mention of the violent insurrection that he inspired to interfere in the election. All of the participants were issued a blanket pardon, and DOJ fired anyone who helped investigate it. They do what most dictators do and try to rewrite our history.

There is a federal court order from Chief Judge Boasberg that was supposed to prevent the destruction of evidence, but it seems they have ignored that order. Thankfully, NPR has created an archive of much of the deleted data.

Jack Smith Deposition Video

The entire 8-hour deposition of former Special Counsel Jack Smith before the House Judiciary Committee has been released. I've been reading the transcript and the part I want to highlight is from his opening statement when he said: “The decision to bring charges against President Trump was mine, but the basis for those charges rests entirely with President Trump and his actions, as alleged in the indictments returned by grand juries in two different districts. Our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 election and to prevent the lawful transfer of power. Our investigation also developed powerful evidence that showed that President Trump willfully retained highly classified documents after he left office in January of 2021, storing them at his social club, including in a ballroom and a bathroom. He then repeatedly tried to obstruct justice to conceal his continued retention of those documents.”

Smith was investigating Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election and instigating the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol, as well as him stealing and then hoarding classified materials at Mar-a-Lago. He said, "Yes, I believe we had proof beyond a reasonable doubt in both cases." and that “President Trump was, by a large measure, the most culpable and most responsible person in this conspiracy. These crimes were committed for his benefit. The attack that happened at the Capitol, part of this case, does not happen without him.”

The House Judiciary Committee has just released the 255-page sworn deposition by former Special Counsel Jack Smith regarding his investigation into Trump's election interference and the stolen classified documents he stashed at Mar-a-Lago.

Smith says he had enough evidence to convict Trump, but the charges were dropped when he got re-elected. He said, "Yes, I believe we had proof beyond a reasonable doubt in both cases." and that “President Trump was, by a large measure, the most culpable and most responsible person in this conspiracy. How Effective Are Protests?

I agree with everything in this article. The key to a successful protest is to commit to nonviolence. Use of violence turns people off and destroys the message your trying to convey. Protests build solidarity and often lead to life-long friendships between like-minded people. I can't wait for the No Kings 3.0 protest this Spring. We need to reach the goal of 13 million people, so I hope you'll join the one in your area!

Watch / Reading List On Fascism

Refuse Fascism has a list of recommended movies and books to learn more about fascism. I just want to add three suggestions to the list:

Bayard Rustin's "I Must Resist!" - Bayard was the genius organizer behind many of the famous MLK, Jr. events such as the March On Washington. Because he was a gay man, he never got any credit and was pushed to the background in all of the famous photos of the era. "I Must Resist!" is a collection of his personal correspondence that is enlightening and inspiring. Remember, during Bayard's life we were fighting the Nazis in Germany and nobody at the time knew who would win. I especially recommend this book to the LGBTQIA+ because of Bayard's place in our history. I read the book to prepare me prior to Trump's first term and it was a big help!

"Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook" by professor Mark Bray gives the history of antifa from fighting Mussolini and Hitler up to fighting Trump and the far-right. It's an urgent must-read when it comes to our promise of never letting history repeat itself.

A book that I haven't read yet, but all of my peers are studying is "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons From The Twentieth Century" by Timothy Snyder. I think there's also a companion book "On Democracy."
