Iran Ground War Operations Planned with 82nd Airborne Special Forces Deployed

While Trump is touting what seems to be imaginary negotiation breakthroughs with Iran, the war is still escalating. While Trump was running his lying mouth, Iran fired a dozen missiles towards Israel and carried out drone attack against targets in the Middle East. Israel is still striking Iran heavily, as well as carrying out a ground war in Lebanon. Netanyahu hasn't said anything about the war ending soon.

Meanwhile, the USA is staging troops and equipment for a short ground war which appears to be their plan to take over the island of Kharg which is Iran's oil export hub. The Pentagon has just issued orders to deploy for 3,000 members of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. Those are elite special forces and paratroopers that would be key to taking over the small island.

In addition to deploying the 82nd Airborne Immediate Readiness Force (IRF), Trump has sent 2,500 Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) along with the USS Tripoli and other ships. They were previously stationed at their base in Okinawa, Japan. They will join the thousands of Marines and sailors that are being sent with the USS Boxer and war ships which would be an amphibious assault force. The Pentagon is keeping quiet, but I would expect there to be around 8,000 troops arriving specifically to carry out the seizure of the island.

It's important to note that these forces at this point aren't large enough to start a prolonged ground war with Iran, but they'd be enough for a short-term invasion to seize Kharg.

Some other signs that a ground invasion is imminent are the deployments and use of C-17 Globemaster III's to the area, along with a buildup of war planes at the Ovda Airbase and Nevatim Airbase in Israel. They are also carrying out a build-up of Army airborne units in Jordan. Many of the C-17 flights have been spotted at the Talladega Municipal Airport in Alabama which is near the Army weapons depot in Anniston where they store a large number of ground combat vehicles. A C-17 has been spotted at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar outside of San Diego, California which is the base of the 1st Marine Logistics Group that supports the US Marine Expeditionary Force.

A more informal measure of determining if a ground operation is imminent is by looking at what the servicemembers say on their social media profiles (they are saying bye to friends and loved ones) and by what they are eating. The Pentagon recently spent $22 million on lobsters and ribeye steak, and the servicemembers are now posting photos of their "Surf and Turf" meal. When I was in the military we only got served that meal right before bad shit happens!

Trump continues to say that negotiations to end the war are going well, but the actions on the ground say otherwise. My heart goes out to all of our servicemembers, their families, friends, and loved ones. It's a damn shame that they are being used in another useless never-ending illegal war of choice in Iran!

Thoughtful Gift Ideas That New Homeowners Will Truly Appreciate

Thoughtful Gift Ideas That New Homeowners Will Truly Appreciate

For friends, coworkers, and relatives shopping for new homeowners, the hardest part isn’t spending money, it’s guessing what will land well. Housewarming gifts can feel oddly high-stakes because homeownership milestones come with new routines, tight budgets, and strong opinions that don’t always show up on a registry. The most common gift-giving challenges happen when a present looks thoughtful but doesn’t fit the space, the season, or the way the household actually lives. With a little clarity, it’s possible to choose personalized gifts that feel like a warm welcome instead of a polite placeholder.

Quick Summary: Thoughtful Housewarming Gifts

Pick personalized home gifts that feel meaningful without adding clutter to their new space.

Select budget-friendly presents that still look intentional and useful from the start.

Consider unique homeowner gifts that solve common new house needs in a memorable way.

Understanding Useful-Plus-Meaningful Gifts

One idea guides every great housewarming gift: aim for useful and meaningful. Practicality means the item will get used in the first few months of settling in, while emotional value makes it feel like a vote of confidence in their new chapter. It helps to remember that gifting is not merely a commercial transaction but a way to show care.

This matters because new homeowners are juggling expenses, decisions, and tiny daily hassles. A gift that solves a real problem saves time and stress, and personalization makes it feel seen. In fact, 60 percent of people say their most treasured gifts reflect personal interests or shared memories.

Think of it like packing for a trip: you bring essentials, then one comfort item that feels like home. A basic tool or security upgrade covers the essentials, while a custom detail ties it to their space.

Steal These 15 Gift Ideas (From Fixes to Cozy Upgrades)

The best housewarming gifts usually land in that “useful-plus-meaningful” sweet spot: they solve a real new-home problem and feel like you noticed how they live. Here are options you can buy quickly, then personalize with one smart detail.

Build a homeowner toolkit they’ll actually use: Start with the basics that get used in the first month, tape measure, level, stud finder, adjustable wrench, hex keys, a bit set, and picture-hanging hardware. If you want it to feel thoughtful, add a small organizer labeled “Move-in Fixes” and tuck in a note with three common first-week jobs (hang curtains, tighten cabinet pulls, assemble shelves). This gift quietly says, “You’ve got this.”

Upgrade their front door with a personalized doormat: Choose a durable, low-shed mat sized to the entry (common widths are 18x30 or 24x36 inches). Personalize it with the family name, a simple icon that matches their vibe (mountains, a leaf, a small house), or even just the street name. The popularity of personalization isn’t a fluke, interest is growing fast in the USD 15,185 million by 2030 personalized-gifts space, and a doormat is one of the most “safe but special” ways to do it.

Give wireless home security they can set up in an hour: Look for a wireless home security starter set that doesn’t require drilling, think door/window sensors plus a motion sensor, with the option to add cameras later. The reason this works is it protects their peace of mind during that chaotic “who still has a key?” phase of homeownership. If you’re unsure about their preference, ask one question: “Would you rather start with sensors only or include a camera at the front door?”

Pick a bird feeder for gardens that matches their outdoor space: For a yard, a sturdy feeder with a squirrel baffle and a bag of mixed seed is a great start; for a balcony, a window-mounted feeder keeps it simple. Add one extra that makes it feel tailored: a small field guide card, a hook/stand, or a note naming two birds common in their area. It turns “decor” into a daily ritual, coffee, window, birds.

Make cooking feel settled with a custom cutting board: Choose a wood board large enough to be useful (at least 12x18 inches) and have it engraved with their move-in date, last name, or a short phrase they’ll actually keep out on the counter. Pair it with a bottle of board oil and a quick-care note: “Oil monthly; never soak.” It’s practical, but it also becomes a keepsake they’ll use during every new tradition.

Turn “first dinner at home” into a wine subscription service: If they enjoy wine, set up a 1–3 month wine subscription service so it feels like a celebration without adding clutter. Make it more personal by including two stemless glasses or a simple “first night in” menu card you write yourself. If alcohol isn’t a fit, you can use the same idea with coffee, tea, or sparkling water, what matters is the ongoing welcome.

Add one cozy upgrade they didn’t budget for: Think “comfort meets utility”: a soft throw for the couch, blackout curtains for the main bedroom, a dimmable lamp for the living room, or a set of matching hangers to make closets feel instantly organized. Choose one problem to solve (glare, echo, cold floors) rather than buying random decor. This is where your “useful-plus-meaningful” filter pays off, comfort is an emotional value you can measure daily.

Housewarming Gift Questions, Answered

Q: What are some practical gift ideas that can help new homeowners feel more organized and comfortable in their new space?
A: Aim for “reset helpers” like a labeled key hook and mail sorter, matching closet hangers, or a small entryway tray for wallets and screws. Keep it budget-friendly by choosing one anchor area (front door, kitchen, bathroom) instead of buying lots of little things. If you’re unsure of their style, neutral colors plus a gift receipt keeps it easy.

Q: How can I choose a gift that eases the stress of moving into a new home?
A: Time it for when boxes are still around: a helpful gift on move-in week feels like relief, not clutter. A flexible option like gift cards to your favorite home stores lets them solve the very first “we need this today” problem. Add a short note naming what it’s for, like shelves, storage bins, or lightbulbs.

Q: What personalized or unique gifts work well to make a new house feel like a home?
A: Personalization works best when it’s subtle: a family name, move-in date, or coordinates on something they will actually use. If you want a simple DIY touch, try this pillow designer to create a custom throw pillow cover with their initials and a color that matches their living room. It keeps the gesture meaningful without guessing their whole decor theme.

Q: Are there gifts that can help simplify the daily routines of new homeowners?
A: Yes, think of “one less decision per day” gifts like a weekly meal planner pad, a charging station for a shared counter, or a basic cleaning caddy that lives under the sink. These are most appreciated when they arrive within the first month, when routines are still forming. A quick handwritten checklist of your three favorite house shortcuts makes it feel mentor-level helpful.

Q: What if I want to give a gift that supports a new homeowner in setting up home security or smart technology?
A: Choose easy setup over fancy features: wireless, app-guided, and renter-friendly installation styles reduce friction. Ask one preference question before buying, like whether they want sensors, a doorbell alert, or simple lighting automation first. A small card that frames it as a gesture of warmth helps it land as care, not commentary.

Give Meaningfully and Strengthen Connections in Their New Home

Housewarming gifts can feel surprisingly tricky, no one wants to overspend, show up too early, or hand over something that adds clutter. The steady way through is the mindset this guide leaned on: lead with usefulness, fit, and care, then let personalization be the gentle finishing touch. When that approach guides the choice, empowered gift-giving stops feeling like guesswork and becomes a simple way of celebrating new homeowners in the chapter they’re building. A meaningful gift says, “I see you here,” not “I picked something fast.” Choose one small detail to tailor today, timing, budget, or a personal note, and commit to it. Gifts that build connections help people feel grounded, supported, and at home.

War On Iran Expands Into World War 3

While the USA and Israel have been striking thousands of sites in Iran, Iran has been striking targets throughout the Middle East which has caused the war to expand to other countries and now even Europe is involved. Iran's missiles have a range of less than 2,000 miles so they can't strike the USA or Europe directly. So, Iran has carried out drone and missile strikes against its neighbors and many of them have been successful.

After Iran struck their base in Cyprus, the United Kingdom is sending their air defense destroyer HMS Dragon there along with helicopters with counter-drone capabilities. Their Ministry of Defense says their Royal Air Force F-35 jets have already shot down drones over Jordan, Iraq, and Qatar.

France has defense agreements with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, and Qatar. They are sending their only aircraft carrier the Charles de Gaulle to the eastern Mediterranean along with sending a frigate equipped with air-defense systems to Cyprus.

Spain (along with the UK) wouldn't let the USA use its bases to attack Iran, so Trump is verbally attacking those two countries (both of which are members of NATO). Trump just threatened to cut off all trade with Spain in retaliation.

China is angry because Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz where 30% of their oil supply travels through, so we're about to have a naval battle in the Persian Gulf. Trump has just promised the world that the US Navy will escort the oil tankers through the Strait and says he has ordered a federal agency to provide "political risk insurance and guarantees for ALL Maritime Trade" in the Gulf. That is going to be expensive!

Pakistan and Afghanistan have started their own war with each other, so that's another volatile hotspot in the Middle East that nobody is paying attention to because of the war against Iran.

Israel isn't passing up this opportunity to continue their genocide in Gaza, but they've also sent troops and started attacking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

Trump and Israel's Crime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have started this war with Iran with no plan on how to end it. By assassinating Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, they have infuriated the Shiite population around the world. Shia is the second largest branch of Muslims, so there could be revenge strikes carried out all over the world.

There is no way to win this war by airstrikes alone, and history teaches us that there's a very good chance someone worse that the previous Ayatollah takes over Iran as Supreme Leader. The Iranian people can't hold a revolution because of Iran's army (the Artesh) and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The entire purpose of the formation of the IRGC in 1979 was to ensure regime survival by preventing internal coups, and guarding their theocracy against foreign interference. Unless the Artesh and IRGC suddenly switch to the side of the protesters, then another revolution in Iran is doomed.

Trump and Netanyahu have opened a Pandora's Box across the world, and Russia and China are paying close attention. By the USA and Israel carrying out a supposedly "pre-emptive strike" against Iran and trying to force a regime change in Iran and Venezuela, we have lost the moral high ground. This gives Putin an excuse to strike Europe and gives Xi a reason for China to take Taiwan. They were planning for an invasion in 2027, but I'm sure the war in Iran has sped up their schedule.

The USA is going to run short on missiles, drones, and ammunition, so now is the perfect time for the other radical nations around the world to act a fool. Trump has started World War 3 and so far I haven't heard any plans on how to end it.

How Moving in Midlife Can Refresh Your Career, Life, and Home

How Moving in Midlife Can Refresh Your Career, Life, and Home

For mid-career professionals, empty nesters, and caregivers emerging from a major life shift, a midlife transition can make a familiar town feel strangely tight. The tension is real: craving a lifestyle change and career reinvention while fearing the practical fallout, the emotional whiplash, and the personal growth challenges that come with starting over. A move can look like escape on the outside, even when it’s really a clear-eyed decision to realign work, home, and identity. With the right lens, relocation becomes a way to claim second act opportunities.>

Understanding Midlife Move Transformation

Midlife move transformation is a three-part reset: name what your restlessness is really asking for, identify the career barriers behind it, then build a plan that fits who you are now. Instead of treating relocation as a quick fix, you use burnout signals and skill gaps as clues, not character flaws.

This matters because it turns a scary change into a workable sequence of decisions. When you clarify your non-negotiables, your choices get cleaner and your confidence grows. The idea of career anchors helps you spot the values and strengths you do not want to leave behind.

Think of it like packing for a long trip. You sort what you are done carrying, what you must protect, and what you need to learn on the road. If you choose one nonnegotiable and one nice-to-have, decisions get simpler fast. You are not just picking a house, you are choosing the conditions that help you thrive.

Plan the Move: 7 Goal-First Steps That Reduce Stress

A midlife move gets easier when you treat it like a project with a purpose, not a scramble to get boxes from Point A to Point B. Use these steps to keep your new home and neighborhood priorities front-and-center while the logistics run in the background.

Start with a “goal brief,” not a to-do list: Write 5–7 non-negotiables pulled from your home-and-neighborhood comparison (example: walkable grocery + under 35 minutes to work + space for aging parents). Then add 2 “nice-to-haves” so you don’t overspend chasing perfection. This brief becomes your decision filter when a tempting listing, school zone, or shiny upgrade threatens the budget.

Work backward from moving day and lock key dates early: Put your move on a simple timeline: decision deadlines, notice periods, school/work transitions, and travel days. A relocation plan that begins 9-12 weeks in advance gives you space to compare quotes, schedule help, and avoid expensive last-minute choices. If your timeline is shorter, compress it by prioritizing only the decisions that protect your goals: housing, income, and basic services.

Build a move budget with three buckets (and a “surprise” line): Create a one-page budget with (1) fixed costs (deposits, truck/movers, storage), (2) variable costs (packing supplies, meals, gas), and (3) set-up costs (utilities, basic furnishings, small repairs). Add a 10–15% buffer so an extra night in a hotel or a minor fix doesn’t derail your neighborhood priorities. When a cost pops up, decide: does it support the goal brief, or steal from it?

Choose the right level of help, then hire for reliability: Decide where you truly need support: heavy lifting, packing, driving, or just loading/unloading. When choosing a moving company, prioritize reputation and experience, then confirm the basics in writing: what’s included, insurance/valuation coverage, arrival window, and how claims work. If you’re DIY-ing, “hire out the hardest 20%” (stairs, bulky items, or long carry distances) to protect your energy.

Pack in zones and protect your first week: Label boxes by room + zone (Kitchen, Cooking, Kitchen, Pantry, Bedroom, Closet) so unpacking supports how you actually live. Pack an “Open First” bin for each person, meds, chargers, two days of clothes, basic toiletries, and one comfort item, so you can function even if everything else is chaos. This is also where you stash documents you’ll need immediately: lease/closing paperwork, IDs, school records, and a list of service providers.

Turn your support network into a simple schedule: Make a short list of helpers in three categories: practical (rides, childcare, lifting), local knowledge (neighborhood tips, schools, services), and emotional (someone who can talk you down at 9 p.m.). Assign them dates and specific asks, “can you pick up lunch on moving day?” works better than “let me know if you can help.” If you’re moving far, set up two standing check-ins for the first month so you don’t feel like you have to be “settled” immediately.

Run a 30-day “landing plan” to adjust to the new environment: In week one, focus on stability: sleep, food, and a basic home routine. Weeks two to four, try one small experiment each week tied to your priorities, walk the neighborhood at your typical commute time, test your grocery run, visit a community group, or explore a third place like a library or gym. Small, repeatable routines make the new place feel like yours and help you separate normal transition stress from real red flags.

Midlife Move Questions, Answered

Q: What if I’m moving because I’m restless, not “serious” about change?
A: Wanting change is not flaky, it is information. A midlife crisis definition often includes emotional turmoil and a strong desire for a reset, which can be a healthy signal to reassess. Write down what you want more of (time, space, community, growth) and choose one move decision that supports it.

Q: How do I handle the emotional whiplash of relocating in midlife?
A: You are not alone in feeling stirred up by big transitions. About 20% of adults report depressive feelings or anxiety tied to stress linked with life changes. Treat emotions like weather: notice them, talk to someone, and keep one stabilizing routine daily.

Q: Can I make a move without risking my retirement or savings?
A: Yes, if you set guardrails before you shop or sign. Decide your maximum monthly housing number, then price out moving costs, setup costs, and a buffer so surprises do not become debt. If the math feels tight, reduce risk by downsizing, selling more, or delaying upgrades.

Q: When should I job hunt, before I move or after?
A: It depends on your income needs and how portable your work is. If you need stable cash flow, interview first and negotiate start dates around the move. If you have savings or remote flexibility, you can relocate for lifestyle and network locally with intention.

Q: How can I overcome the fear that I’ll regret the new place?
A: Give yourself a low-commitment way to learn the area. Many people reduce pressure by renting for 6-12 months to test the lifestyle fit before committing long-term. Set three “proof points” to evaluate, like commute comfort, social connection, and daily ease.

Turning a Midlife Move Into Renewed Purpose and Stability

Midlife can feel like standing at a crossroads, wanting more room to breathe, but fearing the cost of change. The way through is a reflective midlife journey that treats relocation as a values-led, practical choice, one of those transformative life decisions that builds empowerment through relocation rather than panic. When embracing change is grounded in what matters most, the result is renewed life purpose, steadier days, and a home that supports the life being built, not the life outgrown. The right place doesn’t fix everything, it helps life fit again. Choose one small next step today: write down the three non-negotiables a new place must give you. That clarity becomes resilience, making it easier to create work, health, and connection that last.

How to Settle In and Make Your New House Feel Like Home

How to Settle In and Make Your New House Feel Like Home

For new homeowners fresh off moving into a new home, the first days can feel like emotional whiplash: excitement on closing day, then a quiet sense of “why doesn’t this feel like mine?” Once the rush fades, settling into a new living space means living with half-finished corners, unfamiliar sounds, and the everyday homeownership challenges that show up fast. Adjusting to a new environment takes more than unpacking, it takes small moments of comfort and control that build trust in the space. A house starts to feel like home when daily life fits easily inside it.

Shape Comfort Fast: Organize and Personalize in 4 Moves<

The first week in a new place can feel like emotional whiplash, your brain wants “home,” but your house still looks like a shipping zone. These four moves create quick comfort wins while keeping you aligned with the priorities you set earlier (what matters most, what can wait, and what will make daily life easier).

Claim your “one calm room” first: Pick one space, usually the bedroom or living room, and make it functional within 60–90 minutes. Make the bed, clear one surface, plug in a lamp, and set up a small “landing zone” for keys/wallet/mail. This works because your nervous system relaxes when at least one area feels predictable and finished, even if the rest is still in boxes.

Arrange furniture for real life flow, not perfect symmetry: Before you hang art or buy decor, walk the main paths from door-to-kitchen, couch-to-bathroom, bed-to-closet. Use that walk-test to place the largest pieces first, leaving clear pathways and easy access to outlets and light switches; circulation and workflow matter more than “Pinterest spacing” when you’re trying to settle in. If something constantly blocks you (like a chair that catches every bag), move it now, annoyances become habits fast.

Unpack by category into “zones” with simple labels: Instead of “living room box 1, box 2…,” unpack all of one category in one go: coffee supplies, toiletries, everyday cooking tools, work items. Create a zone for each (one cabinet, one drawer, one shelf), then label it with masking tape for two weeks while you test the setup. This is one of my favorite home organization tips because it prevents the classic mistake of storing things where they “fit” rather than where you’ll actually use them.

Use storage solutions to get the floor back (and protect what’s waiting): Give yourself permission to keep “later” items contained: one tote for seasonal decor, one for sentimental keepsakes, one for duplicates you’re not ready to donate. In closets/garage/basement, elevate items off the floor with simple risers or pallets so boxes stay cleaner and you can sweep easily. The win here is visual: clear floors instantly make rooms feel larger and calmer.

Personalize with three tiny, high-impact touches: Choose (a) a familiar scent, (b) one soft texture, and (c) one “this is us” item. That might be a candle you always buy, a throw blanket on the couch, and a framed photo on a shelf, even before the walls are painted. Decorating a new home doesn’t need to start with big purchases; small cues of identity flip the space from “new house” to “my place.”

Set lighting on purpose, room by room: Do a quick evening check and note where you squint, where you feel exposed, and where you want to relax. Swap in warmer bulbs for cozy corners and keep brighter, cooler light for task zones like a desk or kitchen prep; warm lighting creates coziness for a reason. One well-placed lamp can change how you experience a room more than a cart full of decor.

Put together, these moves create comfortable interiors fast, and they quietly set you up for the kind of daily routines that keep the calm going long after the last box is gone.

Habits That Make a New House Feel Like Home

In my experience, settling in is less about one big decorating day and more about repeating a few tiny choices until they feel automatic. Give yourself time because 59–66 days (median) is a common range to reach habit formation, and your brain is already doing a lot.

Morning Reset Walk

What it is: Open curtains, scan each room, and put five items back where they belong.

How often: Daily, after breakfast.

Why it helps: It lowers visual noise and starts the day with quick control.

Two-Minute Entry Drop

What it is: Empty pockets, hang bags, and sort mail into “act” and “later.”

How often: Daily, when you walk in.

Why it helps: It reduces progressive erosion of decision quality at the end of the day.

One Load, One Category

What it is: Run one laundry or dishwasher cycle, then fully put it away.

How often: Daily or every other day.

Why it helps: It keeps essentials usable so the house feels livable.

Friday Fix List

What it is: Write three small home tasks, then do the easiest one first.

How often: Weekly.

Why it helps: Small maintenance prevents tiny annoyances from becoming “how we live.”

Sunday Comfort Anchor

What it is: Repeat one home ritual you love, like tea and a 10-minute tidy.

How often: Weekly.

Why it helps: Familiar repetition turns new rooms into emotionally safe spaces.

Pick one habit, try it for a week, then tailor it to your household.

Common settling-in questions, answered

Q: What are some effective ways to reduce the stress of moving into a new home?
A: Start by making the home feel secure and functional before it looks finished. Do one “safety sweep” in the first 48 hours, including change locks, checking smoke alarms, and locating shut-off valves. Then choose one comfort cue, like a familiar scent or a made bed, to signal rest.

Q: How can I organize my space quickly to feel more settled after moving?
A: Pick two zones that affect daily life most: sleep and meals. Unpack only what supports those routines, then corral the rest into clearly labeled “later” bins. A fast win is clearing one countertop completely so your eyes get a break.

Q: What can I do to build a sense of community and connection in my new neighborhood?
A: Keep it small and repeatable: a wave on the same walk route, a quick hello to one neighbor, or a short visit to a local spot weekly. Ask one simple question like “Any mail or trash-day tips?” Consistency creates familiarity, and familiarity lowers uncertainty.

Q: How do I maintain motivation and avoid feeling overwhelmed during the unpacking and settling-in process?
A: Shrink the task until it feels almost silly, like “unpack one box” or “set up one drawer,” then stop on purpose. Use a timer and end with a visible reset so you feel progress, not chaos. If you stall, choose one manageable fix this week, such as a labeled entry hook or a dedicated charging spot.

Q: If I’m feeling uncertain about my next life steps after moving, what are some options to consider for gaining new skills or direction?
A: Treat the move as a reset moment: journal what you want more of, then pick one skill to explore for 30 days. If a tech track is on your mind, comparing how different accredited online IT bachelor’s programs build in industry certifications can clarify what “job-ready” might look like, this might be helpful as a concrete example of how programs outline that. Even without committing, outlining a weekly learning block can restore a sense of direction.

Move-In Priorities You Can Check Off Today

This checklist turns that foggy first-week feeling into a simple order of operations. Check off a few items and you will feel safer, more organized, and more “at home” fast.

Confirm locks, windows, alarms, and key shut-offs are working.

Document move-in condition with inspection and photographic evidence.

Set up your sleep zone: bed, bedding, lamp, chargers, water.

Stock one meal kit shelf: plates, pan, soap, snacks, trash bags.

Create an entry landing spot for keys, shoes, and daily bags.

Label “open-first” boxes and park everything else in one corner.

Save emergency contacts, service numbers, and wifi details in your phone.

Small checkmarks add up to real belonging.

Turning Week-One Momentum Into Long-Term Comfort at Home

That first week can feel like living out of boxes while trying to be a calm, capable homeowner, and the unfinished corners can nag at the end of each day. The steadier path is the one laid out here: small, consistent choices that create a rhythm, build homeowner motivation, and let the house become familiar without forcing it. With that mindset, settling-in success looks less like a sprint and more like a positive moving experience that keeps improving as routines take hold. A home settles in one small, repeated choice at a time. Choose one priority from the list tomorrow and finish it before starting another. That pace matters because long-term comfort grows from stability, and stability supports every part of daily life.

The Truth About The El Paso Airspace Fiasco

In January, Pentagon Pete Hegseth authorized the military to allow directed high-energy anti-drone systems to be transferred and used by the untrained goons at CBP to protect the border. It didn't take very long for their lack of communications and training to result in a disaster! And to make the situation worse, everyone involved has been telling the public outrageous lies about what actually happened in order to hide their total incompetence.

Let's start at the beginning: The US Northern Command (NORTHCOM) is responsible for homeland defense, security cooperation, and civil support within its area of responsibility (AOR), which includes the continental United States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and surrounding waters. If anyone should be responsible for homeland defense against drones coming across our borders it should be NORTHCOM who is trained and fully-equipped to handle that mission.

It's unclear who made the initial request, but as we've seen there has been tons of military equipment transferred over to CBP and ICE who are not trained on how to operate this deadly equipment.

With Border Patrol agents getting their hands on directed energy weapons, they were eager to use them. But because of their lack of training, they misidentified a party balloon as a drone belonging to a Mexican cartel and they opened fire on it. They obliterated the harmless balloon, but they put all of the other aircraft in the area in danger. They could have just as easily misidentified a passenger plane and shot it down, so thankfully it was just a balloon!

There was supposed to be a meeting held between the FAA and the Pentagon about what I guess was going to be training for CBP where the weapon was supposed to be aimed at drones near Fort Bliss, but the weapon ended up being used before that meeting took place to coordinate their actions. NORTHCOM was left completely out of the loop, so every General and Admiral at NORTHCOM is extremely pissed off. The furious base commander of Fort Bliss even called the Pentagon and NORTHCOM about the incident.

The cover-up: the Trump administration officials told the media lies that there was a US airspace incursion by drones operated by Mexican cartel members, and that the Defense Department “took action to disable the drones.” The official added that the FAA and Pentagon determined there “is no threat to commercial travel.” All of that story was nothing but lies! The weapon wasn't fired by US troops or the Defense Department - it was being operated by DHS's CBP.

Because of the confusion and lack of communication between federal agencies, the Pentagon told the FAA that they could not guarantee the safety of commercial air traffic operating in the area, and so the FAA closed the airspace over El Paso, Texas. This part of the story was true, because with such a powerful weapon in the untrained hands of CBP operators, nobody could guarantee the safety of anybody! 🤬

We obviously need to #AbolishICE and return CBP back to the borders, but we also need to de-militarize them. We must start dismantling DHS and returning back to the agencies we had pre-9/11.

As far as the military, Pentagon Pete has purged our troops of their leadership and kicked anyone out of the military who isn't a Trump sycophant. There's no easy fix to this, and it will take several generations to repair the damage that was done. We can start by eliminating the ridiculous defense budget that Congress has been giving them each year without question. This year they received almost $1T and for next year Trump is requesting $1.5T which is insane. We can drastically cut that budget down to a fraction of what it is without compromising the strength of our military since the majority of those funds goes to the military industrial complex and not to our troops. Billions of dollars gets dumped into the pockets of defense contractors and put towards secret projects with zero accountability. We must end all of these non-winnable forever wars. It will take Congress actually doing their jobs with the budget appropriations process and by requiring the authorization of military use of force for foreign actions.

For that to ever happen, we need new leadership in Congress because the current members receive too much money from the military industrial complex lobbyists and defense contractors. We have to vote them out of office and have new leaders run for every office.

How Homeowners Can Adapt Their Homes and Lives After Major Changes

How Homeowners Can Adapt Their Homes and Lives After Major Changes

For homeowners navigating life changes, divorce, a new baby, a blended household, a parent moving in, or a diagnosis that changes daily routines, home can start to feel like a reminder of what no longer works. The core tension is simple and heavy: the house that once fit the family no longer fits the life, and emotional home challenges show up alongside real-world decisions. Even small shifts can trigger big questions about space, responsibilities, and belonging, especially when a family restructuring impact changes who lives there and who pays for what. Clarity comes from naming the transition and treating the home as something that can be reshaped with it.

Understanding the Home Change Ripple Effect

When life shifts, your house does not just need new furniture. Divorce, a bigger household, a tighter retirement budget, or a medical condition can change ownership, payment responsibility, and what “safe and usable” looks like day to day. Those shifts often trigger paperwork, legal choices, and practical decisions that shape what upgrades are truly urgent.

This matters because home costs are rarely static, and surprises can pile on fast during stressful seasons. The fact that maintenance and other hidden costs are a common frustration is a reminder to budget for reality, not hope. When you understand the ripple effect, you can weigh costs calmly and consider flexible equity access without rushing, including HELOC impacts on homeownership.

Picture a couple separating while one parent stays in the home. At the same time, a grandparent moves in and a ramp becomes necessary. Suddenly, the “project list” is also a list of decisions about title, insurance, and who funds the fix.

With that clarity, a simple stabilization to improve sequence keeps choices manageable.

Stabilize → Organize → Decide → Improve

Your goal is not to solve everything at once. This simple rhythm helps you move through homeowner adaptation stages with less stress, so the most urgent needs get handled first and longer-term improvements stay aligned with your new reality. It also creates a place to track administrative adjustments, legal considerations for homeowners, and the housing modifications process without losing momentum.

<colgroup><col style="width:33.33%;" width="208"><col style="width:33.33%;" width="208"><col style="width:33.34%;" width="208"></colgroup>

Stage

Action

Goal

Stabilize

Address safety, access, utilities, and essential repairs

Home functions reliably today

Map the Change

List new roles, needs, risks, and daily routines

Clear picture of what shifted

Organize the Admin

Gather accounts, payments, records, and deadlines

Fewer surprises and missed tasks

Review Legal and Coverage

Confirm ownership, beneficiaries, insurance, and permissions

Responsibilities match reality

Decide and Budget

Prioritize projects, set a monthly plan, pick timing

Spending supports your priorities

Improve and Maintain

Schedule modifications, track work, review quarterly

Home stays usable as life evolves

These stages reinforce each other: stability buys breathing room, organization reduces noise, and the legal review prevents rework. Once your plan is set, improvements become a manageable loop of action and maintenance, not a one-time overhaul.

Start with what keeps you safe, then build forward.

Home Adjustment Actions You Can Check Off Today

Keep it simple with this list.

This checklist turns big change into clear, doable moves you can complete in short bursts. Use it to reduce mental clutter, protect your finances, and keep your home running smoothly while you adjust.

✔ Secure immediate safety fixes and reliable utilities

✔ Document new routines, mobility needs, and daily friction points

✔ Consolidate bills, autopay settings, and key account logins

✔ Confirm deed, mortgage contacts, and authorized decision-makers

✔ Review insurance coverage, deductibles, and recent life updates

✔ Set a realistic monthly budget and project priority list

✔ Schedule contractors, permits, and follow-up inspections

✔ Track progress and keep a single folder for receipts

Small checkmarks add up to real stability.

Here are the answers people usually need to hear first.

Q: What legal steps should I handle before changing the house or who manages it?
A: Start by confirming who can make decisions if you are unavailable, then make sure names and contacts match across your deed, mortgage, insurance, and utility accounts. If you are planning accessibility work or structural changes, ask your city or county about permits before hiring. A short meeting with an estate or real estate attorney can prevent costly paperwork surprises.

Q: How do I pay for updates without draining my savings?
A: Prioritize safety and daily-function fixes first, then phase comfort upgrades over time. Get at least three bids, ask for line-item estimates, and build a 10 to 15 percent buffer for surprises. If cash is tight, ask contractors about smaller “minimum viable” versions of the project you can expand later.

Q: Should I sell instead of renovating after a big life shift?
A: Choose the option that reduces stress, not just the one that looks best on paper. Many people prefer staying put, and those aged 50-plus would like to live in their current home for as long as possible, so adapting can be a strong, normal choice. If selling is on the table, talk with a local agent about what improvements actually help in your market.

Q: Can I make changes without triggering problems with my mortgage, insurance, or HOA?
A: Yes, but you need clarity before work begins. Call your insurer to confirm coverage during renovations and after any major upgrades, and ask your lender if there are restrictions on renting, home-based businesses, or large remodels. If you have an HOA, request the architectural rules in writing and keep approvals in your home folder.

Q: How do I deal with the emotional hit of constant decisions and reminders?
A: Decision fatigue is real, so limit choices to one small category at a time, like “entryway safety” or “bill systems.” Build in steady support, too, since feelings of depression can ease with simple connection practices, including safe, comforting touch from trusted people. If your mood drops for weeks, consider talking with a counselor while you keep making practical progress. You can move forward gently, one clear choice at a time.-

Take One Steady Step Toward a Home That Fits

When life shifts, a home that once felt easy can suddenly feel uncertain, emotionally, financially, and practically. The way through is a future-focused homeowner mindset: treat empowering homeowner transitions as a series of small, positive adjustments guided by supportive housing guidance and proactive home management. With that approach, choices feel less like losses and more like control returning, one decision at a time. A steadier home starts with one clear choice you can repeat tomorrow. Choose one next step today, review a key document, run the numbers, or confirm a priority, and let that single action set the pace for positive home change motivation. That’s how stability and resilience get rebuilt where they matter most: at home.

Trump Threatens Insurrection Act (Again)

After residents of Minnesota and around the nation have began standing up without fear against his heavily-armed and masked Gestapo ICE goons, Trump is again threatening to invoke The Insurrection Act and send in military troops to fight the protesters. This isn't the first time he's made that threat, but as election day draws nearer the odds of him declaring martial law and seizing control of the voting machines goes up. That's how dictators work. He's already expressed his regrets at not seizing the voting machines during his last big electoral loss. In a recent interview with Reuters, Trump said that things were going so well that we didn't even need to have another election. That isn't the first time he has made a similar claim!

Normally, I'd dismiss this as another fantasy of an extremely unwell (both physically and mentally) wannabe authoritarian, but since there are no longer any checks and balances on his power, we need to take all of his threats seriously. Even though Minnesota has already said they would challenge his invocation of the Insurrection Act in court, the corrupt Supreme Court has already ruled that it is up to POTUS to decide if the required conditions have been met for declaring an insurrection. Both SCOTUS and Congress has completely abdicated their responsibility to stop his madness, so we need to plan our actions accordingly.

It's bad enough that it's already DHS/ICE vs. all sane and decent people, but using the military to enforce civilian law would turn the people against the military. We need to stop that from happening if at all possible! But the recent attacks on our First Amendment rights are clear at every level, so we must act now.

Anyone who voices dissent has already been labeled a "domestic terrorist" by DHS, and they're using their bogus designation of "Antifa" (anti-fascists) as a terrorist organization to enhance sentences for anyone they prosecute. We've seen this already happen in Texas, and it will only get worse.

They've already captured and control our mass media. They've settled lawsuits with several networks who criticized Trump. They've launched a huge defamation lawsuit against foreign media such as the BBC. The placement of Bari Weiss as Editor-in-Chief at CBS has seen their network become heavily MAGA-coded with new news anchors and the blocking of the 60 Minutes report on DHS sending Venezuelans to the notorious CECOT in El Salvador. Even the military media has lost it's First Amendment as new employee applicants at Stars & Stripes are first being asked if they support Trump's agenda.

Whistleblowers are being wrongfully charged under broken and antiquated Espionage Act. They've sent a subpoena to a journalist who covered the chain of command involved in the illegal invasion of Venezuela, the extra-judicial murders of alleged drug boat passengers, and the kidnapping of Venezuela's dictator Maduro. Yesterday, they raided the home of a reporter at The Washington Post alleging the possession of classified materials.

So, what do we do? Organize support networks on your local level. We need to identify sources of food, healthcare, and housing within each community. I'm part of Blackout The System who is already connecting these organization in preparation for a national General Strike. However, because of the shitty economy this work desperately needs to be done regardless if a General Strike ever happens. Join Blackout The System because we need leaders in every state and community to help identify and promote these local resources and break our dependence on the big corporations who are funding the MAGA machine.

Sign up for Indivisible and join your local resistance group! I'm a member of the Alabama Resisters in Montgomery and they are a wonderful group of people who are passionate about equality and justice. Go to the local protests and make your voice heard.

As always: call, write letters, send emails, and visit your elected officials. Even the ones who are on our side need to know we are supporting them. Those who aren't on our side need to be convinced by an overwhelming tidal wave of opposition. They are supposed to represent and work for us! ✊
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2026/01/15/minneapolis-ice-shooting-protests-live-updates/88190465007/

In fact, kindness radiated out of her.

Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine.

Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow. Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.

Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles.
What we found when we got here was a vibrant and welcoming community, we made friends and spread joy. And while any place we were together was home, there was a strong shared sense here in Minneapolis that we were looking out for each other. Here, I had finally found peace and safe harbor. That has been taken from me forever.

We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine.

On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.

Renee leaves behind three extraordinary children; the youngest is just six years old and already lost his father. I am now left to raise our son and to continue teaching him, as Renee believed, that there are people building a better world for him. That the people who did this had fear and anger in their hearts, and we need to show them a better way.

We thank you for the privacy you are granting our family as we grieve. We thank you for ensuring that Renee’s legacy is one of kindness and love. We honor her memory by living her values: rejecting hate and choosing compassion, turning away from fear and pursuing peace, refusing division and knowing we must come together to build a world where we all come home safe to the people we love."

Top Home Repairs to Boost Value and Sell Faster

Top Home Repairs to Boost Value and Sell Faster

Homeowners preparing to sell often face a daunting question: which fixes are truly worth the time, money, and effort before listing? Sorting through needed repairs while aiming to make a home stand out can quickly become overwhelming. The real challenge is learning how to prioritize — focusing on improvements that attract confident buyers without sinking resources into changes that won’t boost value. When sellers approach repairs with a clear sense of what matters most, the path to a successful sale gets a lot less stressful and far more rewarding.

Quick Summary: High-Impact Home Repairs to Prioritize

Focus on repairs like fresh paint, updated lighting, and curb appeal for strong returns.

Prioritize fixing visible damage such as leaks, cracks, or broken fixtures before listing.

Choose cost-effective upgrades that help buyers see the home as move-in ready.

Skip costly customizations or niche projects that do not boost broad buyer appeal.

Streamline your efforts toward repairs that deliver noticeable value and a faster sale.

How Smart Repairs Increase Your Home's Value

When prepping your home for sale, focus on updates that return more money than they cost. In home improvement, a smart upgrade typically means it adds more to your home’s sale price than you spend fixing it. For example, replacing your entry door with steel can nearly pay for itself, averaging a 97% return.

To get the most from your budget, consider upgrades that are proven to attract buyers, like a refreshed kitchen or updated fixtures. According to experts in home improvement, picking the right projects can make your sale smoother and more profitable—because not every repair gives the same payoff.

Select Smart Repairs and Resources for Maximum Impact

Strategically choosing which repairs to tackle before selling can save you time, money, and stress—while making your home far more appealing to buyers. Here’s how to get the most out of your efforts by focusing on fixes that deliver high returns, skipping low-impact upgrades, and making electrical improvements both safe and simple.

Prioritize Safety-Driven Electrical Repairs
Address any outdated wiring, faulty outlets, or broken light fixtures early. Problems like flickering lights or dead outlets send red flags to buyers, and neglected electrical issues can stall your closing or trigger hefty repair requests during inspection. Tackling these up front makes buyers feel safer and often leads to smoother, faster sales.

Focus on High-ROI Upgrades Instead of Costly Overhauls
Rather than diving into major renovations, target proven fixes that add real value. Repainting the front door and trim, replacing worn hardware, or installing new lighting outdoors are small projects that boost curb appeal. Investing in larger exterior elements, such as repainting the whole home—an average exterior paint job runs about $3,178—can also pay dividends by giving buyers the sense your property is move-in ready, as highlighted in research on what upgrades increase home value.

Know Which Projects to Skip
Save your budget for improvements that truly matter. High-end kitchen and bathroom remodels rarely offer a solid return when selling, especially if your existing spaces are clean and functional. Complex features, like smart-home automation systems, don’t always appeal to first-time buyers and may even complicate showings. Concentrate resources on visible repairs and leave personal upgrades for your next home.

Choose Key Repair Materials With ROI in Mind
If replacing worn flooring or doors, opt for durable, buyer-friendly choices. Current trends and cost data show that building additions, like a wooden deck, can provide up to a 55% ROI, while also creating more usable space for families considering your home. Carefully research materials—wood prices have fluctuated but recently returned to near-normal rates, according to lumber market updates — for cost-effective purchases.

Source Electrical Supplies From Reliable Outlets
When completing electrical fixes, ensure safety and code compliance by using the right parts. Understanding various electrical supplies helps you choose reliable products for common needs such as outlets, switches, cover plates, and wiring. Consulting resources dedicated to electrical materials simplifies the process, gives you confidence in your upgrades, and ensures you’re not risking quality or compliance for savings.

Budget and Plan With Inspection Results in Mind
If you’ve recently had an inspection or walkthrough, let those findings guide your repair priorities. Addressing issues before they’re brought up by a buyer can prevent last-minute price negotiations and signal to buyers that your home has been well cared for. By thinking strategically and referencing your earlier ROI insights, you’ll avoid wasted effort and make each dollar count.

Taking these steps empowers you to approach pre-sale home repairs with clarity and focus. That confidence allows you to answer buyer questions easily and tackles common doubts before they ever arise during the selling process.

Top Home Repair FAQs for Confident Home Sellers

Questions about where to start and what’s worth your investment come up often during pre-sale repairs.

Q: What repairs matter most for attracting buyers?
A: Buyers gravitate toward homes that need little to no immediate maintenance. Focusing on highly visible updates like safe electrical systems, modern lighting, and fresh paint makes the best impression, as highlighted by insights into how buyers prefer move-in ready properties.

Q: How should I balance repair costs with potential resale value?
A: Cost is a huge factor for most sellers, with seven in ten people considering the expense their top priority when it comes to repairs. Choose the fixes that offer the most impact for your budget, such as paint refreshes or basic electrical repairs, for the greatest return on investment.

Q: Are DIY repairs enough, or should I hire professionals?
A: Many routine updates—like changing outlets or light fixtures—can be handled safely with some DIY knowledge. However, for major electrical or structural issues, investing in a professional ensures safety and builds buyer confidence.

Q: Should I update appliances even if they still work?
A: If your appliances function reliably and aren’t visibly outdated, updating is often unnecessary. Most buyers care more about overall maintenance and safety than having the newest models.

Smart, targeted repairs pave the way for a smooth home sale and lasting buyer confidence.

Confident Selling Through Purposeful Home Repair Choices

Deciding which repairs are truly worth your time and money can feel overwhelming when preparing to list your home. By focusing on smart, practical repairs and trusting your judgment, you equip yourself to step confidently into the market. When you prioritize what matters most, your selling experience becomes less stressful and more rewarding. Empowered sellers turn wise repairs into faster, stronger sales. Take the first step by selecting one repair project this week and see how small changes drive momentum. Building equity through intentional effort doesn’t just boost your sale—it supports long-term stability and peace of mind.

First Amendment Dangers in 2026

Our free speech rights are under attack and in great danger next year. Here are three areas where we must be very concerned:

1. A bipartisan effort is underway to end Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. They claim they are doing it to "rein in Big Tech" but it will actually harm our free speech online. It would cause companies to take down content if they fear being sued because of it, and also allow people to sue over online content that they don't like. The first targets that this fascist government will go after will be the online organizing of protests against the government and any content that is anti-Trump. We can't let these bills be passed! In the House it is Bill 6746 and in the Senate it is Bill 3546. Call and write your members of Congress and tell them NO!

2. Filming police activity is protected by the First Amendment as long as you don't interfere with them (which would be obstruction of justice). ICE has been carrying around their own film crew in order to create the propaganda that you see being posted on their social media channels. They are big mad at anyone else filming them because they know there would be a huge negative public reaction when the public sees the excessive use of force they use and their brutal tactics to instill terror in the immigrant communities. Recently, the DOJ is claiming that filming police amounts to "domestic terrorism" and DHS Kristi Noem said that it "sounds like obstruction of justice." We must not let them take away our best means of holding them accountable. Keep recording them!

3. You may have heard about the State Department revoking the visas of five Europeans and tolling them they "were not welcome on American soil." Four of the five were already out of the country, but Imran Ahmed (CEO of the US-based Center for Countering Digital Hate) is a US permanent resident living in the country and his wife and kids are US citizens. Our government claims they were part of an effort to censor online content. But what did they do? They were each part of companies who encourage Big Tech to regulate the posting of illegal content, hate speech, and child sexual abuse material. You can see why the Trump administration is so offended by those efforts.

Trump is purging the educational materials in museums and school systems across the country in a move reminiscent of China, North Korea, or Nazi Germany. They are threatening their funding unless they comply with Trump's fascist Executive Order 14253 “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History” which would ban anything "woke" or that doesn't celebrate "American exceptionalism." They don't want anything related to slavery, indigenous people, or "gender ideology" to be taught about.
FBI And DHS Intimidating Protesters (Again)

I've got a copy of an indictment that we all need to talk about! "Cop City" is a $118 million 85-acre police training facility built in Atlanta. They bulldozed a forest to create it in the middle of a Black community. Cop City wasn't wanted and it wasn't needed, so there were large groups of protesters who did everything they could to stop it because the government didn't care about their petitions or concerns. Police shot dead a peaceful protester while in his tent, and in 2023 Georgia filed RICO charges against 61 activists and even said the bail funds were part of a racketeering operation. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr called the protestors "domestic terrorists and violent criminals." All of those ridiculous RICO charges eventually got dismissed.

Samuel Tunick is an Atlanta musician and a Cop City activist. He recently visited a foreign country, and before he came back to the USA he wiped clean his Pixel cell phone. When he got to the airport in January to re-enter the US, CBP agents detained him and tried to force him to give them full access to his phone. They couldn't find what they were looking for, so he was released.

On December 2nd, Tunick was pulled over in Atlanta where he was asked to step out of his car because of an issue with his taillight. He was at that point arrested by DHS and FBI. After his first night in jail, he learned during his court appearance that they had obtained an indictment from a federal grand jury. He was charged with one count of destruction of evidence because he had wiped his phone.

This is a baseless case that must not stand! The government is still clearly trying to intimidate protesters through these ridiculous bogus prosecutions. Many people carry "burner" phones when they cross international borders because of the repressive laws in other countries. It seems now that the USA has become one of those repressive countries.

The Indictment reads: "On or about January 24, 2025, in the Northern District of Georgia, the defendant, SAMUEL TUNICK, before and during the search for and seizure of property by Customs and Border Patrol Tactical Terrorism Response Team Supervisory Officer L.C., a person authorized to make such search and seizure, did knowingly destroy, damage, waste, dispose of, and otherwise take any action to delete the digital contents of a Google Pixel cellular phone, for the purpose of preventing and impairing the Government's lawful authority to take said property into its custody and control, in violation of Title 18, Untied States Code, Section 2232(a)."

I'll be following this case closely as it progresses through the court system and I'll post updates as I get them. There isn't much on the court docket yet, but here's a link to it: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/71998357/united-states-v-tunick/

Sam is out of jail on bond, but now he is subject to random visits from parole officers and drug tests. I'm hoping a rights group will take this case on pro bono publico, but for now he is still trying to raise $20K for his legal fees to fight this case, so if you're able to contribute here is a link to his GiveSendGo account.

Our Allies View USA As Security Risk

The "Five Eyes" (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America) is an alliance of intelligence agencies that was formed after World War II. Since Trump's first election, and especially after he was caught hoarding top secret documents at Mar-a-Lago, our allies have been slowly stepping back from sharing the most sensitive intelligence with the USA because they know it will go directly to Putin and likely be traded with Xi. Our own nuclear secrets were being shared with Saudi Arabia, which even a president doesn't have the sole ability to declassify those documents. Although the data sharing has been limited, our allies admit that with the NSA taps on all of the undersea cables and other communications systems that the USA is likely not missing out on much.

What really broke the relationship with all of our allies was Trump's new National Security Strategy document which attacks Europe, but has nothing really bad to say about Russia, China, or North Korea. That's caused everyone to reassess their relationships, and now even our allies have determined that the USA is a global security risk to the world.

The latest to express their concern is the Danish Defense Intelligence Service (DDIS) who noted that the USA “uses economic power, including threats of high tariffs, to enforce its will and no longer rules out the use of military force, even against allies.” They were particularly concerned about Trump's desire to take over Greenland, and they also see how Trump is being played by Putin in his eagerness to end the war in Ukraine in his obsession to win a peace prize. The USA is abandoning NATO, and is going to allow Putin to start a war with Europe. Why should they trust us?

Everyone is finally waking up to the fact that Trump is not just a grave threat to US democracy, but is a threat to the entire world. There's a link to the DDIS report in this article, but the document is written in Danish:
https://www.salon.com/2025/12/10/danish-spy-agency-calls-us-a-potential-risk-to-global-security/

There needs to be a public trial where the facts of their war crimes and crimes against humanity can be recorded and preserved for posterity.

This morning the Supreme Court heard Trump v. Slaughter and they seem eager to overturn the 90 year old legal precedent from Humphrey’s Executor v. United States. This would expand Trump's executive powers and allow him to fire anyone he wants. We would no longer have truly independent federal agencies. 😢 You can find the recording and transcript of the oral argument on their website later this afternoon.

Tomorrow, they will hear NRSC v. FEC where they'll likely destroy a Nixon-era corruption law that prevents donors from funneling money to the political candidate through committees. This will be yet another one of our systems of checks and balances that will disappear. It sounds like legalizing political money laundering to me! 🤬

On Friday, SCOTUS halted a free speech case filed by immigration judges. The judges challenged a policy that prevents them from speaking out on immigration issues without prior approval. The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals had revived the case, but the Supreme Court has issued a stay. 😡

This morning SCOTUS also refused to hear the appeal for a Texas case about banning books with race or LGBTQIA+ content from libraries. That means the lower court ruling stands, and the library bans are legal. Some of the lower courts have said that removing books from a library do not equate to banning the book itself. I'd prefer that libraries be free of censorship, but through the Internet we'll hopefully find ways to preserve and share those censored books for future generations to read them. 😭

Here's a link with more background on the library censorship case:
https://www.reuters.com/world/us-supreme-court-turns-away-appeal-texas-library-book-ban-2025-12-08/

They have been directing people to dismiss charges in "politically sensitive" cases, and purged the immigration judges in order to put in people with less experience who will pursue deportations under the directives made by Trump. They make staffing changes in order to affect the outcome of legal cases. Those that remain are making legal decisions based on their fear of retaliation, and not based on the law.

Maurene Comey is suing them after she was terminated and she wrote: "If a career prosecutor can be fired without reason, fear may seep into the decisions of those who remain.

We already had a shortage of immigration judges, and in order to give detainees due process in a timely manner during this immigration crackdown we need hundreds more of them! Instead, the Trump administration has fired over 100 judges while trying to bring in 600 military lawyers to act as immigration judges. This strips the military of experienced legal advice (at a very bad time!) as well as puts inexperienced people on the bench to hear immigration cases.

Their tactic is clear: they don't want to give detainees due process! In the DOJ advertisements to recruit new judges they changed the job title from "immigration judge" to "deportation judge." 🤬

One case I'm closely watching is Tania Nemer v. The arrest records show that the overwhelming majority of those being detained are not criminals. Those claimed to have "criminal records" mostly have minor things like traffic violations. Even if you paint those people as "criminals" they are far from being gang leaders or "the worst of the worst."

What they have succeeded in doing is terrorizing our communities by carrying out raids with violent heavily-armed masked Gestapo thugs with no police training. When SCOTUS allowed racial profiling through "Kavanaugh Stops" that's exactly the method they used. They're trying to detain as many people as possible in order to reach their mission quotas, the laws be damned. They don't want the public to know what the real arrest numbers and criminal statistics are because it points to their abject mission failure despite all of their bluster and propaganda.

Our greatest weapon against these domestic terrorists is to use our whistles and record everything that they do. We've been winning all of these legal cases mostly because of the videos that prove how they lie in court. We have to organize rapid-response groups in every community as they spread their efforts across the nation.

In reporting out of Louisiana, it shows how the local and state police are helping them monitor social media through the local DHS Fusion Center. When DHS, the feds, and police got hacked during BlueLeaks we learned exactly how these fusion centers really work. Very few press outlets would cover the BlueLeaks revelations because of their relationship with police, but in places where the truly independent media covered it the fusion center got quickly shut down. The BlueLeaks data trove is still published on DDOSecrets.com, and although it's a few years old, it is still of great value in understanding their training, procedures, and the propaganda that is disseminated.

Here's the latest reporting about the operations they're conducting in New Orleans:
https://apnews.com/article/immigration-new-orleans-online-monitoring-b2c300245ea4ffbef335502245760a1d

Guantanamo ICE Detainment Lawsuit

Federal District Court Judge Sparkle L. Sooknanan has denied the DHS motion to dismiss the case regarding the ICE use of the Gitmo detention center to hold tens of thousands of immigrants. The last count we got was they were holding around 500 detainees, and they are using Gitmo as a holding center while they wait for extradition to other countries.

Remember, Gitmo is the detention center where we keep alleged terrorists in what is basically a fenced dog kennel. They put them there in a US military prison within Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, on the coast of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba because it is a legal no man's land. If they brought them onto US soil, then our laws would apply, and they would actually have rights. By keeping them in Cuba, they faced military-style tribunals which were a total failure.

It was created in 2002 by George "Dubya" Bush who during the Iraq war gave out large cash bounties for anyone reporting a terrorist. The poor people in Iraq were turning in their own relatives (who were not terrorist) just in order to obtain the cash reward. Once the detainees were held in those terrible conditions, we radicalized them against the US, so the government was afraid to ever turn them loose again. Instead of stopping terrorists, the abuse at the facility actually became enemy propaganda fuel for creating thousands of new real terrorists. Gitmo has been a complete disaster, and Obama tried to close it, but Congress wouldn't let him. It still needs to be closed, and nobody should ever be detained there!

There will be a status hearing on the ICE case on Thursday, December 11th at 10AM. Here is the court docket:
https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/70456103/luna-gutierrez-v-noem/?order_by=desc

13th Amendment Loophole Doesn't End Slavery

On December 6th, 1865 the Thirteenth Amendment was ratified to end slavery, but they left in a loophole that we need to someday soon close.

Section 1 of the amendment says: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

We need to strike the part that says "except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted" because that is what allows the jails and prison systems to use forced slave labor to generate millions in revenue while only paying between 2 cents up to $2 per full day of work. Slavery should not be a punishment for crime!

If a prisoner wants to work (and I'm sure most of them do) then they should get paid the normal wages for that particular job. Anything less is just legalized slavery...

Courts Expand Presidential Powers

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today in a 2-1 ruling found that the restrictions on the president’s firing power at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) violate the separation of powers. Trump had fired two Democratic members of the NLRB and MSPB as part of Project 2025's plan to destroy independent federal agencies and expand the powers of the president.

In her dissent, US Circuit Judge Florence Pan said her colleagues’ decision “suggests that no agencies can be independent. Although my colleagues attempt to couch their analysis in narrow terms, they redefine the type of executive power that must be placed under the exclusive command of the President, and effectively grant him dominion over approximately thirty-three previously independent agencies.”

Protection of federal workers was given in a 90-year old precedent with Humphrey’s Executor v. United States. That ruling from 1935 will likely soon be overturned by our corrupt Supreme Court, who on Monday is hearing oral argument for Trump v. Slaughter regarding Trump's attempt to fire the head of the Federal Trade Commission.

Conservatives argue the "unitary executive" legal doctrine gives the president sole authority of the executive branch. That's not only dangerous and erases our independent system of checks and balances, but Congress has enacted tenure-protected terms for independent agency heads to keep those offices free from political interference. It helps keep our government stable.

You can listen to the oral argument live on Monday, and a recording and transcript will be available that afternoon. Here are the Questions Presented by the case:
