Instead, the Trump administration has fired over 100 judges while trying to bring in 600 military lawyers to act as immigration judges. This strips the military of experienced legal advice (at a very bad time!) as well as puts inexperienced people on the bench to hear immigration cases.

Their tactic is clear: they don't want to give detainees due process! In the DOJ advertisements to recruit new judges they changed the job title from "immigration judge" to "deportation judge." 🤬

One case I'm closely watching is Tania Nemer v. Pam Bondi. Nemer was an immigration judge who claims she was "fired for being a woman, a dual citizen who is the child of immigrant parents, and a one-time Democratic candidate for elected office."

The Equal Employment Opportunity office dismissed her claim and said that "civil rights law that protects against employment discrimination conflicts with the president’s power to remove federal workers." This essentially destroys any civil rights protections for federal workers, especially under Title VII which prohibits employers from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
