Election Day - Here's What I'm Watching

In many states today, voters go to the polls and the GOP has already made plans to subvert our democratic elections which should give us a preview of what's to come in the general elections where they'll try to retain their death grip on power.

In NYC, the New Yorkers are expected to elect democratic socialist Mandini as mayor. Mandini won the primary, which caused Cuomo to run as an independent. The GOP candidate is a red beret-wearing Sliwa. Knowing that Mandini will likely win, MAGA has endorsed Cuomo. I'm excited that a democratic socialist might be mayor of New York City. We need more DSA candidates across the country!

In California, voters are considering Prop 50 redistricting which is expected to pass. I'm against gerrymandering (by any party) but this is a necessary response to the GOP gerrymandering several states in order to erase Black voters, and giving Trump more House seats to retain their majority.

In New Jersey, voters are deciding between Mikie Sherrill (D) and Jack Ciattarelli (R) for governor. Polls show a close race, but Sherrill is expected to win.

In Virginia, they will elect their first female governor by either choosing Abigail Spanberger (D) or Winsome Earle-Sears (R). The GOP has been running lots of anti-transgender ads, but thankfully they don't seem to be motivating their voters as much as they used to.

We may not know who the winners are today, as the mail-in votes have to be counted and there will likely be legal challenges as the GOP tries to further disenfranchise the voters. Here's more analysis:
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0qp5yjd253o
