Trump Threatens Insurrection Act (Again)

After residents of Minnesota and around the nation have began standing up without fear against his heavily-armed and masked Gestapo ICE goons, Trump is again threatening to invoke The Insurrection Act and send in military troops to fight the protesters. This isn't the first time he's made that threat, but as election day draws nearer the odds of him declaring martial law and seizing control of the voting machines goes up. That's how dictators work. He's already expressed his regrets at not seizing the voting machines during his last big electoral loss. In a recent interview with Reuters, Trump said that things were going so well that we didn't even need to have another election. That isn't the first time he has made a similar claim!

Normally, I'd dismiss this as another fantasy of an extremely unwell (both physically and mentally) wannabe authoritarian, but since there are no longer any checks and balances on his power, we need to take all of his threats seriously. Even though Minnesota has already said they would challenge his invocation of the Insurrection Act in court, the corrupt Supreme Court has already ruled that it is up to POTUS to decide if the required conditions have been met for declaring an insurrection. Both SCOTUS and Congress has completely abdicated their responsibility to stop his madness, so we need to plan our actions accordingly.

It's bad enough that it's already DHS/ICE vs. all sane and decent people, but using the military to enforce civilian law would turn the people against the military. We need to stop that from happening if at all possible! But the recent attacks on our First Amendment rights are clear at every level, so we must act now.

Anyone who voices dissent has already been labeled a "domestic terrorist" by DHS, and they're using their bogus designation of "Antifa" (anti-fascists) as a terrorist organization to enhance sentences for anyone they prosecute. We've seen this already happen in Texas, and it will only get worse.

They've already captured and control our mass media. They've settled lawsuits with several networks who criticized Trump. They've launched a huge defamation lawsuit against foreign media such as the BBC. The placement of Bari Weiss as Editor-in-Chief at CBS has seen their network become heavily MAGA-coded with new news anchors and the blocking of the 60 Minutes report on DHS sending Venezuelans to the notorious CECOT in El Salvador. Even the military media has lost it's First Amendment as new employee applicants at Stars & Stripes are first being asked if they support Trump's agenda.

Whistleblowers are being wrongfully charged under broken and antiquated Espionage Act. They've sent a subpoena to a journalist who covered the chain of command involved in the illegal invasion of Venezuela, the extra-judicial murders of alleged drug boat passengers, and the kidnapping of Venezuela's dictator Maduro. Yesterday, they raided the home of a reporter at The Washington Post alleging the possession of classified materials.

So, what do we do? Organize support networks on your local level. We need to identify sources of food, healthcare, and housing within each community. I'm part of Blackout The System who is already connecting these organization in preparation for a national General Strike. However, because of the shitty economy this work desperately needs to be done regardless if a General Strike ever happens. Join Blackout The System because we need leaders in every state and community to help identify and promote these local resources and break our dependence on the big corporations who are funding the MAGA machine.

Sign up for Indivisible and join your local resistance group! I'm a member of the Alabama Resisters in Montgomery and they are a wonderful group of people who are passionate about equality and justice. Go to the local protests and make your voice heard.

As always: call, write letters, send emails, and visit your elected officials. Even the ones who are on our side need to know we are supporting them. Those who aren't on our side need to be convinced by an overwhelming tidal wave of opposition. They are supposed to represent and work for us! ✊
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2026/01/15/minneapolis-ice-shooting-protests-live-updates/88190465007/

Please read what Renee Nicole Good's wife Becca Good wrote after her murder by a masked ICE agent: 💔

"First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family.

This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind. In fact, kindness radiated out of her.

Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine.

Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow. Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.

Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles.
What we found when we got here was a vibrant and welcoming community, we made friends and spread joy. And while any place we were together was home, there was a strong shared sense here in Minneapolis that we were looking out for each other. Here, I had finally found peace and safe harbor. That has been taken from me forever.

We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine.

On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.

Renee leaves behind three extraordinary children; the youngest is just six years old and already lost his father. I am now left to raise our son and to continue teaching him, as Renee believed, that there are people building a better world for him. That the people who did this had fear and anger in their hearts, and we need to show them a better way.

We thank you for the privacy you are granting our family as we grieve. We thank you for ensuring that Renee’s legacy is one of kindness and love. We honor her memory by living her values: rejecting hate and choosing compassion, turning away from fear and pursuing peace, refusing division and knowing we must come together to build a world where we all come home safe to the people we love."

First Amendment Dangers in 2026

Our free speech rights are under attack and in great danger next year. Here are three areas where we must be very concerned:

1. A bipartisan effort is underway to end Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. They claim they are doing it to "rein in Big Tech" but it will actually harm our free speech online. It would cause companies to take down content if they fear being sued because of it, and also allow people to sue over online content that they don't like. The first targets that this fascist government will go after will be the online organizing of protests against the government and any content that is anti-Trump. We can't let these bills be passed! In the House it is Bill 6746 and in the Senate it is Bill 3546. Call and write your members of Congress and tell them NO!

2. Filming police activity is protected by the First Amendment as long as you don't interfere with them (which would be obstruction of justice). ICE has been carrying around their own film crew in order to create the propaganda that you see being posted on their social media channels. They are big mad at anyone else filming them because they know there would be a huge negative public reaction when the public sees the excessive use of force they use and their brutal tactics to instill terror in the immigrant communities. Recently, the DOJ is claiming that filming police amounts to "domestic terrorism" and DHS Kristi Noem said that it "sounds like obstruction of justice." We must not let them take away our best means of holding them accountable. Keep recording them!

3. You may have heard about the State Department revoking the visas of five Europeans and tolling them they "were not welcome on American soil." Four of the five were already out of the country, but Imran Ahmed (CEO of the US-based Center for Countering Digital Hate) is a US permanent resident living in the country and his wife and kids are US citizens. Our government claims they were part of an effort to censor online content. But what did they do? They were each part of companies who encourage Big Tech to regulate the posting of illegal content, hate speech, and child sexual abuse material. You can see why the Trump administration is so offended by those efforts. Thankfully, Ahmed immediately sued them and Federal District Judge Vernon Broderick issued a temporary restraining order which prevents officials from arresting, detaining, or transferring him before he has his case heard. A conference is scheduled between the parties on December 29th.

The National Security Presidential Memo 7 and Attorney General Pam Bondi's DOJ enforcement memorandum makes it clear they are targeting all voices that are anti-Trump by designating us as "domestic terrorists" and members of Antifa. I think y'all can see how the dangers to free speech are rising and these events are intersecting each other. We must remain vigilant and continuously fight to protect our rights, especially because it's through the First Amendment that we are able to preserve all of our other rights. ✊

Trump is purging the educational materials in museums and school systems across the country in a move reminiscent of China, North Korea, or Nazi Germany. They don't want anything related to slavery, indigenous people, or "gender ideology" to be taught about.

Trump already sanctioned the chief prosecutor and several members of the International Criminal Court after they issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Crime Minister Netanyahu, and now he has issued threats of further sanctions unless they drop their cases against the USA and Israel. He is scared to death of being extradited to The Hague and put on trial once his term in office is over!

Neither the USA or Israel are signatories to The Rome Statute, but we do have allies that are members. There needs to be a public trial where the facts of their war crimes and crimes against humanity can be recorded and preserved for posterity. This would expand Trump's executive powers and allow him to fire anyone he wants. We would no longer have truly independent federal agencies. 😢 You can find the recording and transcript of the oral argument on their website later this afternoon.

Tomorrow, they will hear NRSC v. This will be yet another one of our systems of checks and balances that will disappear. It sounds like legalizing political money laundering to me! 🤬

On Friday, SCOTUS halted a free speech case filed by immigration judges. Some of the lower courts have said that removing books from a library do not equate to banning the book itself. I'd prefer that libraries be free of censorship, but through the Internet we'll hopefully find ways to preserve and share those censored books for future generations to read them. 😭

Here's a link with more background on the library censorship case:
https://www.reuters.com/world/us-supreme-court-turns-away-appeal-texas-library-book-ban-2025-12-08/

They have been directing people to dismiss charges in "politically sensitive" cases, and purged the immigration judges in order to put in people with less experience who will pursue deportations under the directives made by Trump. They make staffing changes in order to affect the outcome of legal cases. Those that remain are making legal decisions based on their fear of retaliation, and not based on the law.

Maurene Comey is suing them after she was terminated and she wrote: "If a career prosecutor can be fired without reason, fear may seep into the decisions of those who remain.
Trump Purges Immigration Judges

We already had a shortage of immigration judges, and in order to give detainees due process in a timely manner during this immigration crackdown we need hundreds more of them! Instead, the Trump administration has fired over 100 judges while trying to bring in 600 military lawyers to act as immigration judges. This strips the military of experienced legal advice (at a very bad time!) as well as puts inexperienced people on the bench to hear immigration cases.

Their tactic is clear: they don't want to give detainees due process! In the DOJ advertisements to recruit new judges they changed the job title from "immigration judge" to "deportation judge." 🤬

One case I'm closely watching is Tania Nemer v.

Federal District Court Judge Sparkle L. Sooknanan has denied the DHS motion to dismiss the case regarding the ICE use of the Gitmo detention center to hold tens of thousands of immigrants. The last count we got was they were holding around 500 detainees, and they are using Gitmo as a holding center while they wait for extradition to other countries.

Remember, Gitmo is the detention center where we keep alleged terrorists in what is basically a fenced dog kennel. They put them there in a US military prison within Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, on the coast of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba because it is a legal no man's land. If they brought them onto US soil, then our laws would apply, and they would actually have rights. By keeping them in Cuba, they faced military-style tribunals which were a total failure.

It was created in 2002 by George "Dubya" Bush who during the Iraq war gave out large cash bounties for anyone reporting a terrorist. The poor people in Iraq were turning in their own relatives (who were not terrorist) just in order to obtain the cash reward. Once the detainees were held in those terrible conditions, we radicalized them against the US, so the government was afraid to ever turn them loose again. Instead of stopping terrorists, the abuse at the facility actually became enemy propaganda fuel for creating thousands of new real terrorists. Gitmo has been a complete disaster, and Obama tried to close it, but Congress wouldn't let him. It still needs to be closed, and nobody should ever be detained there!

There will be a status hearing on the ICE case on Thursday, December 11th at 10AM.
Courts Expand Presidential Powers

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today in a 2-1 ruling found that the restrictions on the president’s firing power at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) violate the separation of powers. Trump had fired two Democratic members of the NLRB and MSPB as part of Project 2025's plan to destroy independent federal agencies and expand the powers of the president.

In her dissent, US Circuit Judge Florence Pan said her colleagues’ decision “suggests that no agencies can be independent. Although my colleagues attempt to couch their analysis in narrow terms, they redefine the type of executive power that must be placed under the exclusive command of the President, and effectively grant him dominion over approximately thirty-three previously independent agencies.”

Protection of federal workers was given in a 90-year old precedent with Humphrey’s Executor v. United States. That ruling from 1935 will likely soon be overturned by our corrupt Supreme Court, who on Monday is hearing oral argument for Trump v. Slaughter regarding Trump's attempt to fire the head of the Federal Trade Commission.

Conservatives argue the "unitary executive" legal doctrine gives the president sole authority of the executive branch. That's not only dangerous and erases our independent system of checks and balances, but Congress has enacted tenure-protected terms for independent agency heads to keep those offices free from political interference. It helps keep our government stable.

You can listen to the oral argument live on Monday, and a recording and transcript will be available that afternoon.
DHS Still Trying To Investigate Facebook ICE Community Watch Group

I wrote last night about how DHS was coming after "antifa" and anyone they claim is an extremist. They recently subpoenaed Meta for information on a Facebook and Instagram community watch group that monitored the ICE activity in their area. A motion to quash the subpoena was made in federal court, but DHS isn't giving up. They don't want the content (which was made public) - they want the information they need to identify individuals, which Meta needs to be fighting to protect. It's so important that when a media company like Meta gets a subpoena, that they notify the user and give them a chance to fight back in court before they comply with it.

DHS in their response says: "John Doe runs Facebook and Instagram accounts that have tracked United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) agents and posted pictures and videos of agents’ faces, license plates, and weapons, among other things. The summonses do not request any information regarding the content of the accounts, which are public. However, Respondent is entitled to investigate information it received indicating that John Doe, through his social media accounts, is threatening ICE agents to impede the performance of their duties, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 115a1B. "

I'm watching this case closely, and hoping the court will quash the subpoena because these DHS threats against citizen reporting chill the freedom of speech guaranteed under the First Amendment.

Here's the full 16-page response that DHS filed:
https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cand.458146/gov.uscourts.cand.458146.28.0.pdf

ICC President Stands Up Against Threats From USA And Russia

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is who the world turns to for justice when a nation won't prosecute it's own people for atrocities such as genocide, war crimes, crimes of aggression, and crimes against humanity. There are 125 members of the ICC, but China, Israel, Russia, and USA are not members because they don't want their crimes being investigated.

Russia has even issued arrest warrants for ICC staff in retaliation after they issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for his war crimes in Ukraine. When they issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Crime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for their war crimes and genocide in Gaza, Trump retaliated on behalf of his criminal friends. Trump issued executive orders which sanctioned nine ICC staff members, including six judges, and their Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan. Trump is afraid of his own crimes being investigated, so he is actively working to disrupt the ICC and take away their resources.

At today's ICC delegation meeting, Judge Tomoko Akane vowed “We never accept any kind of pressure." It's important that the international community supports the ICC, and cooperates in carrying out the arrest warrants that they issue.

Currently, the former president of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte is on trial for the thousands of extra-judicial murders he committed during his "war on drugs." The Trump administration is carrying out those exact same crimes against humanity with his extra-judicial murders of alleged drug boats near Venezuela. It's imperative for us to make sure the ICC pursues a thorough investigation into Trump and his cronies so we can bring them to justice. Our own country doesn't seem capable of doing it, so we must rely on the ICC. It is why they exist.

Even though the USA is not a member of the ICC, it's important to have a open and fair trial where the facts are exposed to the world and preserved for posterity. In the case of former president George "Dubya" Bush, we couldn't get him arrested and extradited to The Hague, so he was tried and convicted in absentia for his war crimes. If someone with an ICC arrest warrant travels to a country that is a member, they can be immediately arrested and extradited.

I'm so glad the ICC president is standing strong, despite all of the threats and sanctions against them. Here's some reporting by AP on what was said today:
https://apnews.com/article/icc-court-trump-sanctions-russia-6f8a0c911bccaaa9551529fc03b3dcc0

Trump's DOJ Wants Segregated Schools

The DOJ is fighting to have civil-rights era cases dismissed in an effort to segregate the schools again. They have claimed that racism no longer exists, and so those landmark cases are no longer necessary.

The Heritage Foundation wrote Project 2025, which the Trump administration has being using as their playbook. They have completely dismantled the Department of Education in an effort to turn the responsibility of schools back to the states. There's so many problems with that plan, not to mention the states can't afford it. Another huge problem is that many states aren't planning to offer the same civil rights protections to racial minorities and the disabled that were guaranteed by the federal government.

The Department of Justice is supposed to be fighting for those protections, but instead they're trying to remove them. The DOJ Civil Rights Division's new focus falls into three main areas: gun rights, religious freedom rights, and investigating the persecution of White people. The last two areas are closely related, because they are promoting Christian Nationalism, which is a racist and perverted interpretation of religion.

The latest DOJ legal moves have been focused on the State of Louisiana, where state officials have been trying to overturn those old civil rights cases. Instead of DOJ fighting to preserve the hard-earned protections, they are now fighting to remove them by claiming they are a federal intrusion into local school decisions. Dozens of those cases are still open or still have effective orders because the states have never fully accomplished de-segregation.

The DOJ lifted a 1966 order in Louisiana's Plaquemines Parish school district, and now they're trying to dismiss a 1965 case against the Concordia Parish school system in central Louisiana that was filed by Black families who were trying to gain access to the all-white school system.

Since the two (normally) opposing parties of the state and federal government are agreeing to have the case dismissed, that's usually what would have happened. Thankfully, Federal District Judge Dee Drell has rejected that idea. The judge wrote: “At the heart of this case is public policy and the protection of others, and the court has been tasked with ensuring the resolution of this matter in accordance with long established legal precedent." Judge Drell offered Concordia Parish a hearing to prove it has fully dismantled the state-sponsored racial segregation. On Tuesday, they appealed that order.

I can't believe that decades later, we are still having to re-fight these same battles. But here we are... Here's the court docket for Smith v. Concordia Parish (Case #1:65-cv-11577) that started in 1965 and is still ongoing:
https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/6105774/smith-v-concordia-parish/?order_by=desc

By Trump designating foreign anti-fascist groups in Germany, Italy and Greece as "foreign terrorist organizations" they are able to enhance the prison sentence and fines for anyone they allege supports them. They've created an "antifa" bogeyman that doesn't exist. Antifa isn't an organization in the US, and there are no leaders to target.

The only people that actually exist are the anti-Trump and LGBTQIA+ protesters who have been clearly targeted by the memorandum by claiming: "Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality." That "traditional American views" phrase says a lot!

Under the umbrella of stopping "political violence" they create these broad definitions of groups that are open to interpretation. We've already seen arrests of people who committed no crime, but posted "concerning" things on social media that drew their attention so they claimed they had "suspected ties" to antifa. They are also targeting leftist organizations and their donors who are just exercising their First Amendment rights.

This memo not only mobilizes the police to target people, it uses the full force of the entire intelligence apparatus to investigate and prosecute voices of dissent.
Criminal Justice Reform - Moth to Flame Newsletter by Beth Shelburne

I'm attending the screening of "The Alabama Solution" on Saturday in Montgomery, and I already know it will be a life-altering experience. You can stream it on HBO Max.

If you are interested in criminal justice reform and the death penalty, I highly recommend subscribing (free or paid) to the "Moth to Flame" newsletter by Beth Shelburne. She has covered crime for over 20 years as a news reporter, and she continues writing about the state of our criminal justice system.

Beth's latest writing is about the mindset that everyone in prison is evil and "deserves whatever they get" while incarcerated. That mindset makes it difficult to acknowledge the horrible conditions in Alabama facilities (and I'm sure across the country). Our current Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is of that mindset, which is a big problem. We need prosecutors and AGs who enforce the law, but who are also compassionate and aware of the major causes of crime.

Here is Beth's latest newsletter:
https://bethshelburne.substack.com/p/do-the-crime-do-the-time

Gen Z Is Toppling Corrupt Governments

We've already seen Gen Z protesters topple two corrupt governments this year, and the young people are just getting started!

First, they toppled the corrupt government in Nepal. They forced the prime minister to resign, they dissolved their House of Representatives, and installed an interim government to oversee new elections. Then, in Madagascar they forced their president to flee the capital for trying to run for another term, and so the military took over an interim government. They've also held massive protests in Morocco, Peru, Bangladesh, and Indonesia, to take on issues like corruption, economic inequality, and political instability.

Today, the young people in Mexico have attacked the riot police and dismantled barricades surrounding the National Palace in Mexico City because of the cartel violence. They feel like many of their politicians are complicit in protecting the cartels that influence their local elections and governance through assassinations and violence.

And in the Philippines, there are hundreds of thousands of people protesting on the streets of Manila after it was revealed many of their elected officials stole the funds that were intended for flood control projects.

I hope we will see the young people in the US being inspired by the actions of their peers across the globe, and take to the streets to help us protest our corrupt government here. Gen Z has their future at stake, so my only question is "Who is next???" ✊
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gen_Z_protests

How Can You Get Involved in Anti-Trump Resistance?

If you attended the No Kings protest, you should be receiving news alerts about ongoing resistance activities in your community and across the nation. Between the national protests, there are lots of local activities that you can be involved in, as well as other related activist groups who organize their own anti-Trump actions. If you didn't attend any of the first two nationwide protests, you can still join to participate in the upcoming No Kings 3.0 protest that is being organized, as well as their other upcoming events.

In Chicago, Portland, and other communities that are under attack by ICE, they are organizing groups to assemble and distribute ICE kits that contain whistles and multi-lingual Know Your Rights cards. You loudly blow the whistle with three short bursts if you see federal agents, and you loudly blow three long bursts if you see a detention or police action in progress. Keep blowing your whistle until a crowd shows up, and if you hear whistles being blown then you should find them and record what is going on. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has a People Power group, offers legal assistance, and has lots of other important information for activists.

The Black Voters Matter Fund has lots of actions planned, including their We Ain't Buying It pledge campaign to use our economic power to force change by boycotting companies that don't support the community. Voting with your wallet is one way for all of us to make a difference, regardless of our financial resources. Grassroots organizations like the Black Voters Matter Fund, Indivisible, and Until Freedom organize local events, and they are urging shoppers to boycott companies who reneged under pressure from Trump on their promise of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts such as Target, Amazon, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Ford, Wal-Mart, Harley-Davidson, John Deere, and Tesla. The goal is to support the retailers that have stood up to Trump, as well as the Black, minority, and immigrant-owned businesses, and all of the small and local businesses who support the community.

Blackout The System is a national movement across all races, cultures and classes to strategically and peacefully withdraw our labor and spending. They have planned a Mass Blackout for November 25th through December 2nd where participants will limit their spending by only using cash and supporting local businesses if you need to spend money. You can sign up for more upcoming events, as well as learn about divestment and mutual aid projects.

On Veterans Day, there are lots of anti-Trump protests organized in several major cities across the country. The "Vets Say No" protests are organized by the veterans group About Face, and May Day Strong, which is an anti-authoritarian movement. The "Vets Say No" protests are to say “no to ICE, no to occupation, no to fascism, and no to cuts stripping away life saving services our communities need.”

For separation of Church and State issues, I recommend joining Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Their motto is “Freedom Without Favor, Equality Without Exception” and they do great work! There's also the Southern Poverty Law Center who is great at racial justice issues. And there is the Equal Justice Initiative that has some must-see museums like their Legacy Sites in Montgomery, Alabama. My visit to their Legacy Museum, the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, and the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park really was eye-opening and life-changing.

For LGBTQIA+ activism, I love working with groups such as the Human Rights Campaign, the National Center for LGBTQ Rights, GLAAD, Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays PFLAG, Lambda Legal, and the National LGBTQ Task Force, just to name a few. Many of these groups are organized at the local level in order to provide vital services for the community, and so it's easy to get involved.

For political activism, there are the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) who organize local events such as protests and mutual aid.

Regardless of your interests, you should be able to find several groups where you can get involved with local activism. All of the groups that I have mentioned support change through non-violent actions, so be sure to leave your weapons at home (even if they're legal), and commit to de-escalation with counter-protesters and authorities.

Did I leave out an organization that deserves to be listed? There are so many to choose from, but if you have suggestions and are a site member, please leave a comment below.

Ending Mass Incarceration

The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with over 2 million people behind bars. This number has been steadily increasing for decades, and it is disproportionately affecting people of color.

There are many reasons why mass incarceration is a problem. First, it is expensive. The United States spends more on prisons than on higher education, and the cost of incarceration is only going up. Second, mass incarceration is ineffective. Studies have shown that incarceration does not reduce crime rates, and it can actually increase them. Third, mass incarceration is harmful to individuals and families. People who are incarcerated are more likely to become unemployed, homeless, and addicted to drugs and alcohol. They are also more likely to be victims of violence.

There are many things that can be done to end mass incarceration. We can reduce the number of people who are incarcerated by reforming our criminal justice system. We can also invest in programs that help people who have been incarcerated reintegrate into society.

Ending mass incarceration is not going to be easy, but it is essential. It is time to invest in our communities, not our prisons.

Here are some specific steps that can be taken to end mass incarceration:

Reform the criminal justice system to focus on rehabilitation, not punishment.

Reduce the number of people who are incarcerated for nonviolent offenses.

Invest in programs that help people who have been incarcerated reintegrate into society.

End the war on drugs, which has disproportionately affected people of color.

Address the root causes of crime, such as poverty, lack of education, and lack of opportunity.

Ending mass incarceration will not happen overnight, but it is possible. It will require a concerted effort from all of us. We need to demand change from our elected officials, and we need to support organizations that are working to make our communities safer and more just.

– Bard (Google AI)

The American Dream

The American Dream relies on all three branches of our government [Congressional, Executive, and Judicial branches] faithfully upholding the United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, as well as all previous case law precedents (stare decisis).

However, the current iteration of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has defied all logical or legal reasoning, and the majority of illegitimate justices have become activists who are sitting on the bench.

It was previously ill-advised to read the "tea leaves" of SCOTUS decisions based on legal theory. Sadly, we can now predict what 1) the legal outcome of a case should be and 2) the likely outcome of the case based on a #CorruptSupremeCourt making decisions in cases that affect our future,
